Cocktail of the Week: Amaretto Sour
So the holidays are (finally) over, I totally wasn't feeling it this year, my bank account is nearly in the hole and my skin is acting up again, even though I'm heading for 22 and should be free of the whole acne thing by now. Time for a mufuckin' cocktail.
...albeit a rather genteel one. I was a little wary of the Amaretto Sour at first - why mess up the delicious flavor of amaretto with lemon juice, of all things? - but I'm shocked at how good these are. One of the few amaretto-based drinks that would probably work better as an aperitif than a digestif (je suis très prétentieux). Not quite enough alcohol to suit every taste, but still a winning flavor.
Amaretto Sour
1 1/2 oz amaretto (Di Saronno)
juice of 1/2 lemon
Shake with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Looks aren't the Amaretto Sour's strong point ("Why yes, I'd love a glass of that gungy water that shoots out of your showerhead in the morning"), so don't bother dressing it up with a garnish.
